Nature Day

First, I found an armadillo. A few months back I thought I saw him hiding in the bushes by our house, but figured I was making it up (just like anytime I see a gully or pond I'm sure I see alligators). So imagine my delight when I looked out our window and saw a little armadillo just outside our fence. This is the only pic I got of him, and he's all out of focus (but the leaves are crisp and clear, ha). I had to stand on a ladder to see over our fence: Hes the blur dead center:

We named him maximilian. Honestly, I was so giddy about finally seeing an armadillo, and the thought still makes me smile.

A few days ago we went to the park and ended up seeing all sorts of wildlife:
geese, who let us get very close. I think they scared me more than I scared them

Turtles all over the place

A crane (and more turtles in the center)

And Kenny's favorite, a squirrel

And my favorite, a wild Danielbaby

PS, note how HUGELY FAT my son's feet are? This is why he doesn't wear shoes. NO SHOES FIT.

And last but not least, this is a nutria:

Creepy little beaver rat. He let us get quite close, though.

Next on my blog: the valentine's day flight that almost wasn't (which was awesome)

WAY COOL! I would love to see more animals than a bird or a deer off the side of the road here in Utah... :) I can't believe Daniel's fat feet! That is hilarious! Reminds me of my feet near the end of my pregnancy. Would a pair of crocs fit him? (I usually oppose crocs for adults, but they seem to look cute on babies at least!)

Since the moment my parents moved to TX, my mom has wanted to see a LIVE armadillo. We always saw them on the side of the road alittle smashed. So imagine her delight when my sister in law picked my mom up one day and drove her to the Catholic church by there house to see 4 baby armadillos looking around for food. When she got back home, she got me, Josh and my dad in the car to go look at them again. They were so cute. The beaver rat thing isn't so cute. I think the Daniel creature you came across is the cutest!

Hey, how long have you been living in Texas? That Nutria looks like the R.O.U.S. on Princess Bride.

When you go to Auntie Odie's you must ask her to see Nama's stuffed armadillo. Nama loved that ugly old thing. And to see a real one, well, you must be special. Love those nutria.
