TheValentines That Almost Wasn't

We had grand plans for "love week", culminating in my big v-day surprise for Kenny: a flight in a small plane over lake conroe and the woodlands- and Kenny'd get to fly (and land!) I was so proud of ymself for keeping it a secret, I even told the flight school guy to only call during school hours so Kenny wouldn't get the phone. Sure enough, last week the guy called during school hours and left a message. There's no way he could have known Kenny had that day off from work:(. So despite my attempts, Kenny managed to figure out that it was a flight school, and the rest went downhill from there. The only saving grace was he knew I didn't spend much and figured we were going as passengers, and his hope he would be flying seemed too good to be true.

So, how did it go, you ask? It didn't. :(. It was a gorgeous, clear week up until friday, then saturday was still gloomy so we had to reschedule. About the time we would have gone flying, it was downpouring. So on the 28th, weather permitting, Kenny will try his hand at flying a plane.
I was pretty bummed about it being rescheduled. Add to that that we took our car in for an oil change and ended up spending 450 bucks to keep the clunker from an apparent impending doom, and things were looking a little grayer.
I'm having another breastmilk supply dip, so Daniel has been grouchy and hungry. I have little sympathy for the little guy though, since he could solve that easily by just accepting milk from a bottle or sippy cup.

Daniel had an eventful week. Friday, he learned TWO new tricks in one day: he finally crawls (legitimately, with the belly off the floor) plus he has discovered how to get to standing in his crib (he's been able to pull himself to standing for a long while, but the crib was a bit of a stretch). Unfortunately, that means that the crib is no longer a place of napping, it is a work-out gym. So I have a VERY tired, very hungry, and very grouchy baby on my hands.

Kenny surprised me by taking me out Friday night (he even arranged for a babysitter, the first time Daniel has had a real sitter) to the "Movie Tavern"- a local theater where you eat dinner while watching a movie. I'd been dropping hint (ok, all-out whining) about how we never get to see movies anymore and it was such a nice surprise. The food was mediocre, but just being free and worry-free for a night was great. We saw "push", which met my expectations exactly (enjoyable but not amazing).

Knowing I'd be depressed if we didn't do anything on valentine's day itself, we invited a couple in the ward over for dessert and a game of Balderdash. It was a lot of fun, just what I needed to redeem the holiday.
