Mr. Kunz

I should probably keep his blog more updated, but I just don't have much exciting to say right now. "I laid in bed today. That was fun." My contractions have slowed down to a very normal level, but I won't get any news from my OB on if I can get out of bed until next week's appt.
In more exciting news, I have an amazing husband.
Today concludes his first full week as a real teacher. He's teaching Algebra 1 (freshman), Algebra 2, and pre-calculus (juniors and seniors). When we left his old class (the one he was student teaching in) the students were quite sad and tried to convince him to stay. Quite a few students showed him how their grades had gone up while he was teaching them. A few students decided to skip their own third period classes to come hang out with Kenny during his prep period. One of his female students told him he has pretty eyes (it's a statement of fact, so I won't be jealous):). He's got some great outfits and ties now and looks so sharp every day. He's totally the teacher I would have a crush on (like good ol' Mr. Marshall, my high school history teacher). I love thinking of him as "Mr. Kunz".
All in all, it sounds like he's doing great.
The fun part is each night as he prepares his lesson plan. Now, I never was good at or enjoyed math. I took it through 9th grade geometry then was done (unless you count "principles of mathematics for life" which I took at clark college and was a complete joke). I don't remember ANYTHING from algebra. If you give me a a really simple algebra problem (say x+3=5) I can tell you the answer without any thought. If you ask me HOW I know it's 2 I have to think back to 7th grade and remember how much I always hated showing my work. That's an extreme example, but you get the picture.
Fortunately, this makes me a great candidate for Kenny to bounce ideas off of. He says if I were just a bit dumber I'd be perfect:). So each night he asks me to go through some of the equations he's going over tomorrow with his students, and think outloud as I go through the process so he can see into the mind of someone who isn't mathy.
In other words, I'm learning Algebra all over again. It's much more enjoyable this time. It's only fair, too- I correct Kenny's grammar all the time, why shouldn't he have me learn math?

Sounds like a fun thing to do together. Congrats again to Mr. Kunz -- is it fun to have your own classroom now? How exciting...

Isn't it amazing how things work out so well?

The other day Amy was explaining to me how she remembers you and Kenny and Lori and Sam. She calls you guys the rhyming couple and Lori and Sam the Love couple (don't know why they got that distinction).
