What I've learned this week:
-If you are traveling to Canada, and your passport is in your maiden name, your tickets must also be purchased in your maiden name (would have saved me one hour and $75).
-Red-eye flights aren't that bad when you have room enough on the plane to sleep. Red-eye layovers are the things to watch out for.
-When one arrives in Canada on business, one should lie and say they are there for pleasure (would have saved me 2 hours and $150).
-You may be old enough to have a baby and buy a house, but not old enough to rent a car without paying extra and getting your car selection greatly reduced. (A brand new charger in 2 feet of snow...)
-While the Hilton may sound nice, a place with free internet and free breakfast would be nicer.
-Sometimes a Valet is the only option, no matter how much the frugal part inside of you cries against it.
-When planning outfits for a trip, make sure every article of clothing makes it into your suitcase. A beautiful outfit left on the bed won't be much good for you.
-Always go for the GPS unit they offer you when you rent a car. A good sense of direction is useless in a blizzard in a city that likes quaint little non-through streets.
-The quebec airport, though similar in size to a large bus station, has two very nice features: 1, free internet (hence this post) and 2, they play delightful classical christmas music, mixed with occasional holiday songs sung by my french-canadian friend, Bruno Pelletier (of Temps des Cathedrales fame). Nothing could have cheered me up like Bruno could have.
-Getting from Salt Lake City to Quebec (or back) takes, on average, 3 flights and 12 hours in either planes or airports- both ways.
-If you have a squishy carry-on for a pillow, any airport bench without armrests can become a decent enough bed.
-Being 4 months pregnant should not hinder one's sense of "adventure". Yeah... adventure...
-Though not extremely comfortable, pregnancy is a blessing. Just when I was feeling so alone, and thought things could get no worse, my baby kicked! It was only the second time I had felt anything, and it was at a moment when I needed to not feel so alone. Thanks, little one.
-My husband is now a part of me. When he's not near me, it feels like something is missing. I am so very excited to see him again! (You'd think 3 days would be no big deal, but we hadn't spent more than 24 hours apart since... well, since before our engagement, probably.)
With any luck, I'll be back in Utah tomorrow night for my work's Christmas Party. Then I have one weekend to pack, then Kenny's finals, then we need to find a place to stick a puppy for four days, then a drive to California to spend Christmas with my husband's family, a drive back to Utah on Christmas day, one day to pack up the uhaul, and a two-day drive to Houston. In other words, I hope to once again be a pleasant person to be around sometime around January 1st. Thanks, everyone, for being patient and helpful!

Sounds like a "fun" business trip. Not all of them are that bad, but a lot are. :-) Can't wait to have you guys down here!
